At the Professional Bar and Restaurant School we appreciate the importance and the necessity of practical industry experience in the competitive atmosphere of today’s world. We have a dedicated staff member who works with our students from the first week of the course, to assist in finding employment within the New Zealand Hospitality Industry. Meet Fiona Sewell, our Employment Co-OrdinatorMy name is Fiona Sewell and I am the Employment Co-ordinator here at The Professional Bar and Restaurant School in Auckland. I have worked at the school now for 18 months and my sole focus is to assist our students in finding employment. I have over 20 years experience in hospitality and have been lucky enough to have worked all over the world so I fully appreciate what a rewarding and exciting career this can be.Getting the experience and the know how is what we teach here at the school, but going out and putting your practical skills to use in the industry can be a daunting prospect for many of our students….so that is where I come in! I help students with every aspect of the employment process: from c.v’s to interview techniques all the way through to matching students up with the job that best suits their skills and personality. A large part of my job is also visiting prospective employers as well as students who are already in the workplace to assess their progress and any further training needs that they may have. I look forward to meeting you and assisting you with finding your ideal job. Work Entitlement Students studying on our courses are able to apply to work for up to 20 hours per week and full time during holiday breaks. To be eligible for this work allowance, you will need to complete a Student Permit application and a Variation of Conditions Application once you have enrolled at the school.
