Auckland: A Study Destination
New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland, also known as “The city of sails”, has a population of 1.3 million people. Auckland enjoys a pleasant sub-tropical climate, easy access to the coast and a variety of activities that earn the city consistent top five rankings in international lifestyle surveys.
Situated between the beautiful waters of the Waitemata and Manukau harbours, the city is unique; being built on a narrow isthmus, it extends to both the east and west coastlines of the country’s north island and has 48 dormant volcanoes and 50 outlying islands.
Auckland is a modern, vibrant, multicultural city which reflects New Zealand’s diversity, with a melting pot of South Pacific, European, and Asian Cultures. This fusion of people brings with it a lively collection of café’s, bars, restaurants, international hotels, and world class shopping.
The central Auckland area has an abundance of beaches, parks, scenic reserves, and
gardens. It is also home to the Viaduct Basin where you will find numerous pleasure boats, super-yachts and cruise ships moored in the harbour.
The greater Auckland region offers a great many natural attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore dozens of beaches, parks, marine reserves, and gardens.
You can visit the rugged beauty of the black sand beaches of Piha and Murawai known for world-class surfing or relax on the many safe, golden sandy beaches on the east coast’s North Shore.
Albert Park in the central city is a pleasant place to relax, with Cornwall Park popular with runners and walkers. You can also walk the stunning pristine subtropical forests, which are a short drive from the city.
When the sun sets on the “City of sails”, Auckland transforms into a destination for dining and dancing through to the early morning hours. Whether you are here for travel, business, or for the perfect study location, Auckland is a unique and memorable world class city.
