PBRS Takes Out the NZ Bartender Guild Competiton

Many weeks of diligent practice paid off magnificently for the PBRS students at Wellington’s NZ Bartenders Guild Competition.

Of the 40 entries, eight were from PBRS Wellington. They shook, rattled and poured to win themselves a first, second, third and fourth place in the Flair competition, to enthusiastic applause.

PBRS Wellington’s operations manager Richard Campbell says he was delighted with the win and very proud of their high standard and tremendous achievement.

“The classic cocktail they demonstrated was scored on measurement, taste, presentation and originality and the students outdid themselves, they were absolutely thrilling to watch.”

This is the first time the competition has been held in Wellington. It was hosted at Bodega Bar, a young and fresh venue featuring live music and attracting well-behaved crowds.

The PBRS Wellington students won a first, second and third in Flair. Richard says their showmanship was outstanding and bedazzled the crowds.

The presentation of winning certificates and excellent prizes of bar equipment helped make the evening one to remember.

“Recognising the students win and making official presentations to them was the icing on the cake, it really added value to the evening.”
